Nowadays, there is a device that enables asmartphone's camera to recognise gestures withoutgobbling up precious battery life.
目前,有一种设备可以使智能手机的摄像头识别人类的手势,而且不会以减少电池的宝贵寿命为代价。
Microsoft's Kinect and the soon-to-be-released LeapMotion have thrust 3D gesture-recognitiontechnology into the mainstream. Touchlessphones,however,are still a rarity.Korean company Pantech released a smartphone in 2011that could use it's camera to recognise simple gestures. But across the industry the capabilityhas yet to catch on:of the 1.6 billion mobile devices shipped in 2012, just 27 million (about0.2 per cent) were equipped with gesture-sensing technology, according to ABI Research,amarket research firm based in New York.
尽管非接触式手机仍然非常罕见,微软的Kinect和即将要发布的Leap Motion使3D手势识别成为了一种主流技术。韩国泛泰公司在2011年推出的智能手机可以使用相机识别简单的手势。但在整个行业,这项技术还未盛行。据总部位于纽约的ABI咨询公司的调查显示,在2012年,共有16亿部手机的出货量,而只有2700万(约0.2%)部手机配备了手势感应技术。
One reason may be that existing techniques infer gestures based on 2D images captured by aphone's camera. This is problematic because visually cluttered backgrounds can confuse thesoftware. Kinect and Leap Motion illuminate an area with either an infrared laser or intenseinfrared light to capture depth information about a scene.
原因之一可能是现有的技术可以基于手机摄像头捕捉的2D图像来判断出手势,但这存在一定的问题,因为视觉上杂乱的背景可以让软件产生混淆。而Kinect1和Leap Motion2使用红外线激光器或强烈的红外线来照亮某一区域以捕捉这一场景的深度信息。
Now Andrea Colaco at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab in Cambridge andcolleagues have developed a system called 3dim. 3dim's software then looks for mathematicalstructures in the 2D image data in order to simplify the scene.Tobias Hollerer at theUniversity of California,Santa Barbara,sees more promise for 3dim as a Google Glass systembecause he thinks it's awkward to make gestures while you're holding a phone.
目前,剑桥麻省理工学院媒体实验室的安德里亚·柯拉科和他的同事开发了3dim系统(三维数字成像及造型),3dim软件可以在2D图像数据中查找数学结构以便简化场景。加利福尼亚大学圣巴巴拉分校的托比亚斯·霍乐尔认为3dim技术运用在谷歌眼镜上会有更大的发展前景,因为他认为当人们拿着手机时不方便去做手势。
